From Kiruna to Oslo

A big but relatively little-used road takes me from Kiruna to Gällivare. During a quick descent a reindeer, visibly nervous, crosses right in front of my bike, lucky me :).

I had thought of almost everything when packing, but I had forgotten a cup, so there was a souvenir for me from the Lofoten. In cold times I can also throw it into the campfire :)

From Gällivare to Östersund in one day on the Inlandsbanan.

In the enlargement of the picture above you can see a fiddle-playing Swedish troll on the riverbank.

Typical landscape for up there, taken from the train window.

and one more picture for railway fans ...

All of Östersund was “gaga”, the Storsjöyran festival was just taking place and it was a bit difficult to find a quiet spot for my tent in the evening.

On through brown bear country to Lofsdalen

even on the campsite you get visitors...

I cross the Swedish-Norwegian border to Lake Femunden

and for the next while ride in the rain to the southwest via Elverum and Kongsvinger towards Oslo.

and one of the biggest passenger ships I have seen so far, 122,000 tonnes and more than 1,033 feet long. Officially put into service on 8.8.09, apparently, here 2 days earlier in Oslo.
