These pages contain reports, maps and pictures of my longer (cycling) trips as well as shorter cycling excursions. For starters, I also recommend the chronological overview and some highlighted reports. If you are more interested in bicycles you might want to have a look at some pictures of bikes I built for myself or for friends. For alpine cyclists I made a "collection" of mountain passes mainly in the Alps and Pyrenees, which are drawn into a map together with the bike trips. A visual overview is given by a map with all bike tours for which there are reports on this site.

The three passes trek is the ultimate Everest circuit, it rises from Lukla to Chhukung, crossing the 5535m Kongma La to Lobuche and Everest Base Camp, continuing over the 5420m Cho La to Gokyo, then crossing the 5345m Renjo La to Thame and Namche Bazaar. Only for the truly adventurous. read more.
The Annapurna Circuit is a trekking route around the Annapurna mountain range in the Nepalese Himalayas. It can be completed in 14 to 21 days by acclimatized and conditionally prepared trekkers. Most of the route passes through the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), Nepal's first and largest protected landscape area. read more.
Much of the Pamir Mountains lie in the Gorno-Badakhshan Province of Tajikistan. A journey by bicycle from Dushanbe via Panj river and Bartang Valley to the "black lake" Karakul crossing the 4,655-meter high Ak-Baital Pass to the Hindu Kush mountains along Afghanistan's Wakhan Corridor. read more.
I traveled by plane to Tehran Imam Khomeini Airport, 50km south of Tehrans city centre. I boarded a 5 hour Lufthansa direct flight from Munich to IKA and my bike was loaded on the same plane without any modifications, no wrapping, no need to lower the air pressure, even the pedals and handlebars were accepted "road ready". read more.
Es war mal wieder Zeit für eine Radtour in den Alpen, das Wetter war die 17 Tage Ende Juni bis Mitte Juli hervorragend, nur einmal erlebte ich nachmittags einen leichten Regenschauer. Umgekehrt war es mittags allerdings oft sehr heiss, in den Tälern zeigte mein Tacho/Thermometer regelmässig über 40 Grad an. Nach einer Bahnfahrt ab München (mit Umsteigen in Zürich und Visp) startete ich am späten Nachmittag in Martigny. read more.
