From Munich to Paris
One week of holiday in the autumn of 2010... and a ride from Munich to Paris; first, for a better overview, a small map of the whole tour.
Even at this time of year I was still on the road with tent and stove, and in the evening I was glad of the odd cup of tea, in spite of the consistently sunny week

near Günzburg was the first overnight stop from Munich, the next day the road went up the Swabian Jura to Tübingen, past the castle Hohenneuffen, to be seen here through the spectacles

A big festival was being celebrated in Tübingen that weekend, and the next day the road went along the Neckar, under a motorway bridge

past various villages and up many a lovely valley to the edge of the Black Forest, where paragliders were just making use of the thermals

I noticed that I had too much time and too few kilometres to Paris, and so from Kehl I made

an excursion into the Kaiserstuhl near Freiburg, until the next day it went through Strasbourg, along canals,

namely along the Canal de la Marne au Rhin,

towards Nancy. A smart light in the morning at the campsite could not hide the fact that the days were now quite a bit shorter, the nights cooler and the tent very damp with condensation in the morning. Along the Moselle for a short while and to a statue of Monsieur Maginot with a shadow line.

Right into the sparkling-wine growing area south of Reims, one vineyard after another for many, many kilometres

until I finally pitched my tent at the gates of Paris and the next day started a little city tour by bike, repeating it on Sunday...

until the journey home by TGV from Gare de l’Est to Munich...
